The Department of Finance & Banking was established under the faculty of business studies, Jahangirnagar University in the year-end of 2009.

The vision of the Department is to develop skilled human resources with specialized education, expertise, and training in finance and banking. Over the period of the last decade, the Department has successfully earned a considerable reputation for strong commitment and outstanding devotion to academic excellence at home and abroad. The department is working on a priority basis towards bridging the gap between academic knowledge and industry experience. It maintains a professional linkage and effective dialogue with the business community, industry practitioners, and policymakers. Other than, business leaders, financial analysts, bankers, and renowned managers are invited on a regular basis to conduct seminars and workshops for the students, faculties, and other stakeholders. The department is achieving its advanced competencies and managerial capabilities day by day to satisfy the competitive market requirements of our graduates.

All the classrooms of the Department are well equipped with modern multimedia and other facilities. The computer lab has more than 20 updated computer facilities with internet connections. Furthermore, several small rooms are equipped for small group discussion and/or for organizing small seminars. Besides these, students have a room to organize group discussion among themselves. The seminar library has rich in the collection of books and other academic & research resources.

Finally, the outstanding expertise of teaching staff, research activities, training sessions, and the dynamic curriculum has made the Department a unique institution in and outside the country.
